To the joy of very few, Charlotte Flair defeated Asuka on this weeks episode of Smackdown to become an EIGHT TIME Women’s champion (9 if you count the NXT Women’s Championship which WWE never seems to)! Now whilst this was a great match as expected given the talent involved, what is the purpose of this? Asuka finally became a champion on the main roster just to barely feature on TV and then lose her title days before mania? Something seems very off here given how close we are to a Wrestlemania where Charlotte already has a Raw women’s championship opportunity in the main event against Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey. WWE has just one week to either fix or explain this VERY controversial decision but in the meantime “congratulations” I suppose to your new Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the Rope Break Podcast: NXT & SmackDown Review Episode 5.

Unfortunately Callum couldn't be with us today due to illness so for this weeks NXT & SmackDown Ian is riding solo all by himself.

He does a quick recap of NXT which featured the appearance of the O.C. which led to the 6-man tag team main event seeing them face-off against Tomasso Ciampa, Keith Lee & Matt Riddle and then he moves onto SmackDown which featured The New Day defeating The Revival to become the New SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Sorry for the changes to this weeks show.
