This week’s NXT could almost be described as an hour long promo for Friday nights TakeOver New York. Not that is necessarily a bad thing by the way.

War Raiders opened the show as they smashed through two separate tag teams in very short order. Pausing In-between matches to tell Aleister Black and Ricochet not to listen but to just watch! These two squash matches served to emphasise the Raiders brute strength and to hype up their title match at the fore mentioned Takover.

Next up was the first of three big promo packages hyping up more TakeOver matches. This one was all about Pete Dunne vs Walter for the UK championship. Other matches featured was an excellent video hyping up the NXT Championship match Between Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano and another for Velveteen Dream V Matt Riddle. A backstage segment where Candice LeRae  challenged Aliyah to a match was also screened and we also learned that in two weeks time we would see the Rematch between Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic.

Back to in ring action and Oney Lorcan would take on the much bigger and Brawnier Jaxson Ryker of the forgotten sons.  No surprises who won this encounter as Ryker easily dispatched the smaller Lorcan.

The third match of the evening and the shows main event featured Kairi Sane taking on Bianca Belair, two of the four women who will compete in the fatal four way at TakeOver New York. This was a very good match with Belair showing that she is constantly improving in the ring and Kairi showing why she should be called up to the main roster post WrestleMania. However the match ended in a Non finish as to the surprise of no one Shayna Baszler and the horsewomen interfered.  Io Shairi would run out to help her friend Kairi and she was quickly followed by the rest of the womens locker room. A Melee ensued and quickly spilled out of the ring with Io left standing tall as she held up the NXT women’s championship for the final shot.
